NEWC is delighted to welcome The Flicka Foundation Donkey Sanctuary as a new member!
Since its inception in 1995, The Flicka Foundation has rescued and rehabilitated over 1000 animals and currently cares for over 100 donkeys, horses and ponies at their sanctuary in Cornwall, all of whom have been rescued from abuse, neglect and abandonment.
They gained registered charity status in 2007, with the aim of:
- relieving the suffering of donkeys and other equines in need of care and attention
- providing and maintaining a sanctuary and carefully selected foster homes for their reception, care, treatment and security
- offering and facilitating educational tours and talks for students, and community groups on and off-site to promote humane behaviour towards equines and educate the public on the prevention of cruelty and suffering and general animal welfare
- providing therapeutic activities through interaction with rescued donkeys and ponies
- rescuing donkeys from situations of abuse, neglect or abandonment and providing them with necessary veterinary care and attention, appropriate rehabilitation and lifelong sanctuary or approved foster home care.
