Rupert first arrived at the centre in 2024 after being signed over. He was castrated shortly after arriving at Shores Hey and began to slowly integrate into life on the yard.

Rupert is a visually striking pony; he has a beautiful chestnut coat with a flowing mane and tail, of which he is extremely proud. Whilst Rupert did undergo an initial assessment period, his conformation does not make him a suitable contender for a ridden career, though he is perfectly sound as a companion.

It is important that Rupert goes to a home with an experienced handler. Whilst he is a very sweet boy who loves a fuss and a cuddle, he can be stubborn at times on the ground and needs to be able to continue his education in his home.

Rupert is good to bathe and groom and generally good to have his feet picked out, though he can sometimes be a little unbalanced, so he needs a home with the time and patience to help continue with his progress.

Rupert is happy to be turned out with geldings (but due to him being castrated late in life, he can be quite dominant)  and is happy living out as well as spending time in the stable. He can at times be quite boisterous, so he would benefit from having a friend who also has a playful nature.
