Say hello to River!

River is a 2-year-old, 12.1hh, piebald, trotter x mare who is ready to find her home as a companion with potential.

River is a very sweet-natured mare who is a little unsure of life. She is looking for an experienced fosterer who is patient and confident to help her push through her insecurities and who has previously worked with horses who need guidance.

River is looking for a companion she can live with who is slightly older than her to help her mature.

River would thrive from a constant routine with her companion and her fosterer, and is happy to live somewhere with good grazing, as she doesn’t hold weight easily.

River would also enjoy in-hand walks to gain confidence in her environment.

River is a young age, she can be unsure of new surroundings and would need a confident handler. River is a curious mare who benefits from a constant routine and interaction with her new fosterer on a daily basis to be able to settle and get to know her surroundings, to know everything isn’t as scary as it seems!

Stabling/Shelter: River is good to stable with a friend nearby, and currently lives out 24/7 with access to a field shelter. River doesn’t like being left on her own in the field.

Companionship: River loves to be around her field companions and has only lived with mares; she would benefit from living with an older mare as a companion to help her mature.

Forage/Feed: River is currently on grazing 24/7 with ad lib hay when grazing becomes too sparse, she has had a feed over winter in the past, as she can drop weight and can be possessive around food buckets. River is currently on an all-in-one supplement daily due to her age.

Medication: Cetirizine in summer months - fly allergy

Farrier: River is currently barefoot and is trimmed every 6weeks. She is a good girl for the farrier, but does struggle with her balance, so would benefit from a farrier who is patient and able to hold her legs low.

Dentist: Sedated as standard Bransby Horses procedure.

Vet: River is a good girl for the vet. She has had a worm burden in the past and is management for this via a worming programme and daily poo picking.
