At Redwings we rehome a variety of ponies each year, many of these are non-ridden companions. Our horses and ponies are individually selected by our Rehoming Teams based on their readiness to begin their basic handling training. During their time at Rehoming, our horses and ponies have a health and behaviour assessment by our specialist teams to ensure that they are healthy and ready to leave the Sanctuary. Once their assessments and handling training is complete, they are advertised on the Rehoming page of our Redwings website.
The Non-Ridden Companions we have available for rehoming can provide much needed companionship to other horses and ponies whilst bringing joy to Guardians with their individual characters. It’s important to note that our Non-Ridden Companions are not suitable to be backed, ridden, driven or lunged at any point; this may be due to their health or behaviour but the decision is always based on what is best for their future.
