Poppy has recently returned to Hope Pastures from a loan due to the loss of her companion. She originally arrived in December 2023 underweight due to dental problems. She was diagnosed with EORTH and had 4 top incisors removed. She is ready for her next chapter in a new home within the Yorkshire area.
Poppy is the perfect companion. She is easy to handle and has the sweetest personality. She is looking for a nice retirement home where she has constant companionship.
To groom Poppy is very gentle. She will happily stand to be pampered, and she is currently being used on-site for pony grooming sessions with the public.
Stabling/Shelter:
Poppy currently goes out during the day with our youngsters but comes into a sand area at night due to having different needs than they do. Poppy would happily be stabled overnight if required.
Companionship:
Being an older girl, Poppy prefers calmer, quieter companions. She can sometimes pull faces at the youngsters in the field, and she will tell them off if they misbehave. When being introduced to a new horse, she can squeal.
Currently, Poppy is on her own at night in a sand area with a horse next door, and she is happy with this. Therefore, she should be okay to be left alone for short periods of time as long as other horses are in sight.
Forage and Feed:
Poppy is currently fed a daily balancer alongside a small amount of Spillers Senior mash.
She is also fed haylage instead of hay, as she has been known to cough on hay.Poppy needs to be fed her haylage from large-holed nets or on the floor due to dental issues.
Health information:
Poppy requires annual dentals. She has a condition called EORTH and has had 4 incisors removed.
