Pixie

Info

Age: 8 years
Sex: Female
Height: 13.8
Organisation: Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare

Pixie has a very sensitive nature and has grown in confidence since she arrived with us. Pixie enjoys a quiet fuss, is great to lead, turnout, catch and have her feet trimmed by the farrier. Introduction of new tasks need to be done slowly with plenty of positive reinforcement as she can find things overwhelming, and particularly doesn't like having her nose/muzzle touched.

Pixie suffers with sacroiliac joint disease, she is not on any daily medication but has steroid injections at the vets approx. every 12-18 months to maintain her comfort levels along with supplements for her joints. Pixie is seen by our physiotherapist and carries out gentle strengthening exercises including long reining, polework and hand walking. Pixie is extremely well behaved and easy to do, but requires a patient and calm handler who will take things slow.

Pixie is a very good doer so would thrive on sparse fields, if out on long grass will need to be muzzled for short periods, Pixie does enjoy time in the stable, but has also lived out 24/7. Pixie is barefoot and up to date with vaccinations, dentals and worming. Requires sedation for leg clipping.

Please note that due to injury, Pixie is looking for a home as a COMPANION ONLY and is not fit or suitable for ridden purpose. If you have already filled out an application and would like to enquire about Pixie, please email equine@raystede.org
