Patrick and Penelope are two intelligent young mules who are looking for a new home where they can continue their training and build trust in people.  Patrick and Penelope came into the care of The Donkey Sanctuary having experienced very little of the world.  They have benefitted from living in a home environment where they have developed trust in their handlers.

They enjoy training and have taken part in various agility exercises, building their confidence around novel objects such as poles, and cones, walking through an arch, and over different surfaces.  They can be approached, have their head collars fitted, be groomed and be led by a familiar handler, however, this may regress in a new home at first so we are looking for someone who will be understanding of this.

Penelope is slightly more confident than Patrick and is very inquisitive towards humans. Both mules will benefit from ongoing training to help them feel comfortable with routine vet treatments.  Our Donkey Welfare Advisers and Behaviour Team will be on hand to support their new home in all aspects of behaviour, training and handling. The ideal home would be supported by an experienced and understanding equine vet practice and farrier who can help grow their confidence further.

Patrick and Penelope will need calm, gentle consistent handling and would thrive in an environment where they can continue their training and build a strong bond with their human handler.
