Theo, Alex & Walter are looking for a home together as a trio. Homes must have experience caring for donkeys, as they require different care compared to horses. The 3 boys love to play together and are real characters.

Alex is a 11 year old, Grey, Gelding. He is good to groom, lead and handle for the vet, dentist and farrier. Alex is the most confident donkey of the trio. He is a really favourite on the yard and enjoys human interaction.

Theo is a 4 year old, Bay, Gelding.He is good to groom, lead and handle for the vet, dentist and farrier. Theo is the youngest of the trio and was very nervous when he first came to us. He has since grown in confidence and loves human interaction.

Walter is an 8 year old, Bay, Gelding. In winter he gets a longer coat which requires more grooming to keep him matt free. When walter first arrived he was a very shut down anxious donkey but with some training and the help of Theo and Alex he has grown in confidence. He can still be nervous at times and will need time to trust new handlers. Walter is good to groom, lead and handle for the vet, dentist and farrier. Stabling/Shelter:

Donkeys need to have access to a shelter at all times, as their coats are not waterproof like horses’.This should be big enough for all the donkeys to accommodate all the donkeys.

The donkeys would also need to have access to an area of hardstanding, as donkeys are prone to getting seedy toe if kept in wet conditions.

Our donkeys prefer to be out 24/7, but I could be stabled. If stabled, the stable would need to be at least 12 x 12 so that the donkeys can share.

Companionship:

Donkeys are pair-bonded, so we would not rehome a single donkey. Our donkeys will be available to rehome in pairs or trios.

They should be kept with their companions at all times. If done gradually, they could be introduced to other donkeys or horses.

Forage and Feed:

Our donkeys are fed good-quality barley straw. This is given instead of hay and should be available adlib.

Often our donkeys require restricted grazing to prevent them from getting laminitis. A track system would be ideal for this, or have the option to restrict grazing.

The donkeys are fed a donkey balancer daily with Speedibeet.

Health information:

All our donkeys are up to date with Flu and Tetanus vaccinations, and recent FEC and wormed accordingly.They are trimmed every 6 weeks and have yearly dental visits
