Dedicated to the Rescue, Rehabilitation and Rehoming of Horses, Donkeys and Ponies found to be in distress
Responsibilities:
- Carry out yard and administrative duties as directed
- Exercising equines as directed, assisting in their rehabilitation
- Carry out other duties deemed reasonable as may be requested from time to time
- Carry out reasonable minor repairs and improvements to the yard and equipment
- Responsible for maintaining a clean, tidy and safe workplace
- Assisting at outside events as and when requested within normal working hours
- Assisting with vet, farrier, dentist, physio and other similar outside visitations
- Administering medications to equines under instruction from the Yard Manager, ensuring any paperwork is completed accordingly
- Ensuring tack is in good condition, and fitting correctly, as per the guidance of a professional saddler
- Keeping daily records of yard events and horse exercising/handling regimes
- Assisting with the collection and delivery of equines
- Liaising with equine clients/owners, and carrying out external Welfare checks as requested.
- Carry out Yard Manager duties, from time to time, as requested.
- Assisting the Yard Manager with health and safety checks, and keeping accurate records.
- Training and Appraising students/work experience/Duke of Edinburgh scheme persons.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proficient in all aspects of stable management – required
- Experience in handling horses – required
- Capable and confident horse rider – required
- Experience in rehabilitating equines – desirable
- Knowledge of yard/land maintenance – required desirable
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively – required
- Be able to work cohesively as part of a team as well as independently – required
- Possess a flexible, proactive and productive attitude to work – required
- Possess recognised equine qualifications – required desirable
- Proficient user of MS Office – desirable
