Horse Care Team Member, Nr Harlow, Essex

Full-time permanent position - 40 hours per week as per rota (to include weekends) 7.30 am to 4.00 pm

We currently have a full-time vacancy for an enthusiastic and flexible individual with experience in equine care to join the team at our Ada Cole Visitor Centre.

Working under the supervision of the Yard Manager and Team Leader you will help to provide a high standard of daily care for our resident horses, ponies, and donkeys.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team ensuring all equines have access to suitable water, feed, and shelter, that hygiene is maintained and that paddocks are checked and clean. They will carry out visual health checks and give medication as prescribed along with assisting in the catching and holding of nervous equines for the farrier and vet team.

This is a busy environment, and the ideal candidate should understand the importance of effective communication, observation, and unified teamwork. They will need to liaise regularly with line management and will be able to follow instructions as well as use their own initiative.

Our Ada Cole visitor centre is open to the public and therefore applicants should enjoy sharing their passion for Redwings and our residents with visitors.

Sound knowledge and proven working background in horse health and welfare are necessary, as is familiarity with Health and Safety Regulations.

Salary £20,342.40 per annum for over 18s’. In addition, we offer shift workers a premium pay rate on Sundays (time and a half) and Bank Holidays (double time).

A full clean manual driving licence is an essential requirement for this position.
