Mare and Foal Sanctuary - Fred

Age: 5
Sex: Gelding
Height: 12.3
Organisation: Mare and Foal Sanctuary

Fred is being rehomed as an UNBROKEN YOUNG HORSE

Fred came into the Sanctuary as an orphan foal off the moor in 2017 with a group of other orphans that were all named after the Flintstones.

Fred is a sweet and inquisitive young pony who always wants to know what you are up to. His favourite thing is to come over for a scratch on his chest with his handler and he will do his best to help with the poo-picking!

Fred is looking for a new home, either with someone who has the experience and time and wants to bring on a young horse or with someone as a companion. He can be a little strong in hand and he is still in training so would be best suited to a confident adult handler. Despite this, Fred is generally good to handle and good with the farrier and vet with some reassurance from his handler. Fred loves attention and will happily stand all day to be groomed and fussed.

Fred has no known health problems and is progressing well with his training. He has seen light traffic, bikes and dogs and is getting more confident with every new adventure. Fred has started long reining on our local lanes and is doing well, as well as walking out in hand both alone and in company. Fred will continue with his education whilst he is in the Sanctuary.

Fred is used to living out but is equally happy to be stabled for part of the time. He is currently living with a mixed herd and he loves to play in the field with his young field mates. Fred does get a bit anxious if his friends are taken away so he probably wouldn’t be suited to a home where he will be expected to stay by himself.
