Cheeky Chunky Charlie Pony
Charlie is a piebald cob and one of the sweetest boys we have met. He very so genuine and friendly. Charlie is looking for a home to continue his education and give him lots of love.
Charlie is looking for a home and lifestyle that is very relaxed and sedate, he would benefit from a home and yard where there isn’t lots of change as he thrives on routine and knowing his herd members. Charlie can take a while to settle into new routines and environments but once he is comfortable, he is very easy to handle. Charlie will live out 24/7 with access to shelter. This set up suits him best, rather than in overnight. He has previously had some stable vices including door knocking however, we have not seen this since he has become settled and he is happy to come into the stables during the day or night as long as turnout is provided (and stimulus within that turn out- EG: field companions).
He is very good in a stable, does love to come in for a snooze and his haynet. He likes to be stabled with a field companion near him, however, is also happy to be left for short periods and will take part in activities on his own (EG: leading work in the sand school).
Charlie is grazed with calm mares, geldings and youngsters- he will share his forage and is happy for herd members to come and go.
Charlie has been previously ridden and driven. Charlie is still under assessment for these roles but shows a lovely demeanour for training and learning.
Charlie requires an experience, knowledgeable and loving home to ensure environmental, health, behavioural and training needs are met, and so he can continue to grow and be that cheeky Charlie pony in any home.
Routine: Charlie currently lives out 24/7 with access to a shelter and hard standing. He does not currently wear any rugs, but is happy to.
Friends: Charlie benefits from a herd structure and minimal changes on a yard. He is currently living in a mixed herd of calm mares and geldings (and youngsters).
Feeding requirements: Charlie is not on any hard food, but does have free access to vitamins and minerals. Charlie has access to adlib forage 24/7 in winter and in summer will need to ensure the home manages his weight and turn out correctly.
Medical/Vet: Charlie is good for the vet. Charlie is up to date with vaccinations including Flu, Tetanus and Strangles. Charlie does need to have his feathers appropriately managed- including treatment for mites. Due to being feathered he will need continuous monitoring for any CPL, mallanders and sallanders- however at the moment does not suffer.
Charlie has previously been treated for ulcers in 2024.
Farrier: Charlie is good for the farrier, he is trimmed every 6-8 weeks as required.
Dentist: Charlie is good for the dentist and is seen yearly.
Vices: Charlie does paw the ground when unsure, stressed or bored. Charlie has been grazed with mares and geldings however, he does need friendly companions, he gets anxious with more dominant characters.
